- Hi,
-
- I am currently evaluating CGM as an intermediate graphics format to be used to send
- data to different hardcopy plotters. The thought here is to create a procedural interface
- for my applications to write CGM data. This data would be sent to a plot engine for
- conversion into the plotter specific formats. (HP-GL, PostScript etc). In looking at
- CGM there are a few problem areas that are not addressed.
-
- * Dithered color specifications
- * User definable line styles
- * Resolution 16 vs. 32 bit coordinates
- * No relative coordinate capability
- * No view port capability
- * How do I know I am producing and reading correct CGM?
-
- How is CGM being accepted as a standard?
- Is the document Sections 5-8 ready yet?
- Should I be looking at a different "standard" format?
- Are there any good writers and readers available? (pay or free)
-
- Any thoughts on the subject?
