- : The docs list 2 ways. I don't have them with me here, but the
- : solution is there. One way is a commandline switch (i think it's
- : -2, so you type vile -2 and it comes in 25 line mode) the other
- : way is a set command in the vile.rc file. It is also documented.
- : If you can't find these, email me and i will dig them for you.
-
- The info about "-2" is correct. Earlier versions supported
- "set screen {25,43,50}" in a vile.rc file, but that was inadvertently
- dropped recently.
-
- : What i have found so far:
- ....
- : Vile - Very interesting, but still unstable (memory problems,
- : etc.) but you might like this one. It's basically an emacs that
- : responds to vi commands, cute.
- "cute"? Wow. It's been called a lot of things, but never _cute_! :-)
-
- Seriously, vile could really use some help on the DOS front -- it's _very_
- stable under UNIX (imho), but then, memory limits and OS brain damage
- aren't the problem they are under DOS. Anyone want to volunteer to help take
- DOS vile into the nineties? (I can't give it much attention -- I _never_
- use DOS.)
-
- :
- : Elvis 1.6 - this is 99.9% vi, all commands in all modes, plus
- : many very good extensions. The newest version has a few unixoid
-
- If you want a vi _clone_, use elvis. Steve has done an _excellent_ job.
