- ** CSPI Announces the SuperCARD 3 VME, 200 MFLOPS Vector Processor **
-
- Billerica, Massachusetts -- CSPI announces the newest member of
- the popular SuperCARD vector processor family, the SuperCARD SC-3XL/VME,
- a 6U VME64 board with 200 MFLOPS performance, up to 64 MBytes of memory,
- and up to 200 MBytes per second I/O, using two Intel 50 MHz i860 XP Chips.
- The SuperCARD SC-3XL/VME is the first VME board available that incorporates
- Intel's newest i860 XP chips in a 50 MHz design: giving the SuperCARD
- processor unprecedented performance, and making it CSPI's top-of-the-line
- product, in the ever-growing SuperCARD family.
-
- The new SuperCARD processor is available with either one or
- two i860 XP chips; yielding a peak performance of 100 or 200 MFLOPS.
- A Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) memory controller allows the 8, 16, 32 of 64
- MBytes of DRAM memory to operate at 200 MBytes per second, and supports
- cache coherency with bus snooping, and parity. For I/O and control,
- the board supports three independent I/O channels with DMA: a VME64
- interface (72 MBytes/sec), a VSB interface (40 MBytes/sec), and the
- CSPIO interface (200 MBytes/sec).
-
- As with prior SuperCARD models, the new SuperCARD 3 software
- is compatible with existing models; making the transition from SC-1,
- SC-2 an easy process. Software support for platforms from Sun
- Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, and many others is available.
-
- Due to it's industry-leading combination of speed, memory, and
- I/O bandwidth, the SC-3XL/VME model is particularly well suited to
- applications such as sonar, radar, simulation, image and seismic
- processing; markets where CSPI is know as a supplier of reliable,
- high performance equipment. The SuperCARD-3 and SC-3XL/VME will
- be available in the third quarter of 1992, with prices starting at
- $ 12,000.
-
- CSPI was founded in 1968 with specific strengths in digital
- signal processing and computer technology. Today, CSPI is recognized
- as a leading manufacturer of vector processors which enhance a computer's
- ability to perform high-speed arithmetic. Markets served include science
- and engineering applications in signal processing, sonar and radar
- processing, image processing, seismic processing and well logging, medical
- imaging (such at CT and MRI scanning, and others.
