- What I really do not understand is why is it that I have to pay
- information that should be public knowledge? Why do I have
- to pay over 200 dollars to a publishing company for documentation
- of international standards? Can someone explain that to me?
- I know Hayes guys read this. What horrible thing happened when
- they let the AT set public? I don't think it killed them?
- Why can't I have the DCX format for free? Oh.. I forgot, I am not
- one of the "elite" top 100 big businesses. I am just a freakin'
- shareware author. I might write a program faster than the big
- pigs, and that would be such a horrible thing! I might steal
- oh, 30 to 40 bucks in donations! Uhhhhhh!!! Scares me!!!
- I have to order chips from the manufacturers to get information
- on the fax protocols, like class 1. Why? Why do I have to buy
- 100 Rockwell, or Intel chips just so I can read the dang docs on
- it?
-
- I WANT THE T.4 DOCS, AND I WANT IT FREE!
-
- I pay 26% taxes to the government. If the CCITT, and ANSI are not
- part of the gov, then fine. If this is a private hoopla, fine.
- But I don't think so. So. I WANT MY DOCS NOW!
- $200! Thats .. 800 cups of coffee, or 67 medium size pizzas from
- Little Cesars, or 400 Snickers. or even better thats 2 four meg
- SIMMs! I don't have that kind of money laying around!
-
- I WANT THOSE DOCS AND I WANT IT FREE!
-
- Did anyone of you looked at the Class 1 docs? What costs 200 bucks
- in that? It is sucks! Whoever came up with the those commands
- must have had a lobodomy. I swear, my dog (who is dead :( ) could
- do a better job making a new standard.
- What happened to "Gosh, lets discuss this with people who will
- actually _HAVE_ to use it." Nahh. That would be too easy.
-
- I am a very business oriented person, and believe in intellectual
- rights, in many ways. But this is like holding a patent on
- circles, so noone can make a wheel!
-
- And guess what! Class 2 will come out, and it will be just as
- bad as Class 1. I wish there would be a way to come up
- with a new set that we could use and spread it free. So class 1&2
- would DIE.
-
- I WANT MY DOCS FREE! I want it to be public! I want my neighbor
- to be able to write programs for class 1&2 fax boards (no worry
- though, he is a carpenter), without having to shell out _ANY_
- money.
-
- p.s.: Flames are more then welcome. I will just ignore them.<g>
-
- p.s.s.: Wow. _THAT_ felt great.. Almost as good as ...
