- I have a perplexing problem (at least to me it is) and I was hoping
- somebody out there has run into a similar problem and solved it. I
- have a Compudyne 2400 baud fax/modem (internal) installed in an AT machine
- I built myself. Recently, I've run into this problem; when I go to
- dial out, I can hear a dial tone for about 5 or 6 seconds, but no familiar
- touch-tone dialing. After 5 or 6 seconds, the dial tone is lost and
- the message "NO DIALTONE" comes up. At first I thought the problem
- might be with my CD-ROM driver. This had caused problems previously
- and I thought this might be the problem. Unfortunately, after booting
- with relatively "clean" boot disk (I have a mouse driver and a joystick
- driver and no other boot up programs), the problem still persisted.
- The modem can answer the phone and typing AT on the command line returns
- the familiar "OK". Both the modem and my software are setup for COM
- 4. I have a mouse using COM 1. If it means anything to someone, the
- last time the modem worked was when I successfully received a fax a
- week ago. I am using QL2FAX communications software.
-
- If anyone has any ideas on solving my quandry, I'd appreciate it greatly.
