  12. I have a perplexing problem (at least to me it is) and I was hoping
  13. somebody out there has run into a similar problem and solved it.  I
  14. have a Compudyne 2400 baud fax/modem (internal) installed in an AT machine
  15. I built myself.  Recently, I've run into this problem;  when I go to
  16. dial out, I can hear a dial tone for about 5 or 6 seconds, but no familiar
  17. touch-tone dialing.  After 5 or 6 seconds, the dial tone is lost and
  18. the message "NO DIALTONE" comes up.  At first I thought the problem
  19. might be with my CD-ROM driver.  This had caused problems previously
  20. and I thought this might be the problem.  Unfortunately, after booting
  21. with relatively "clean" boot disk (I have a mouse driver and a joystick
  22. driver and no other boot up programs), the problem still persisted.
  23. The modem can answer the phone and typing AT on the command line returns
  24. the familiar "OK".  Both the modem and my software are setup for COM
  25. 4.  I have a mouse using COM 1.  If it means anything to someone, the
  26. last time the modem worked was when I successfully received a fax a
  27. week ago.  I am using QL2FAX communications software.

  29. If anyone has any ideas on solving my quandry, I'd appreciate it greatly.
