- For a 4-wire leased line, modems normally have to be designed for it.
- Most modems will only work on a 2-wire leased line (of course, these
- terminologies may differ between telco's). For a modem to work
- on a 2 wire leased (dedicated), it will normally be able to answer/originate
- automatically without user intervention and will not "wait for dial-tone"
- which is part of the key.
