- I have Netfax 3.2.1 on a SPARCstation. NetFax seems to run fine but
- does not get far when it starts talking to the ZyXEL modem.
-
- Has anyone used NetFax with a ZyXEL?
-
- Judging by past net posts and email, Netfax 3.2 is not yet completely
- operational with the ZyXEL on *anyone's* machine. The FAX protocol
- used by the ZyXEL has its own peculiarities, when compared to the
- Everex Everfax that netfax was written for. This is because Class II
- is not really a standard yet.
-
- If you want to do some tinkering, I can send you a set of patches for
- SVR4 for netfax 3.2 (not 3.2.1, I don't have that!) that fixes a
- number of incompatibilities with the ZyXEL. Be warned that my patches
- are not fully operational, though. I have problems with more than one
- page at a time sending or receiving. As I recall, I think it only
- sends when I'm running truss to trace the system calls to find out why
- it doesn't send. :-( But I was last working on reception, not
- transmission, so I may misremember.
-
- Zero One refuses to provide any documentation to their users for the
- FAX mode of the modem (grrrrr...), so this is sort of an ongoing
- net.saga.
