- oops. I didn't mean to plug ATT modems, simply relay information about
- a potential problem with compatibility. I have been playing with 9600
- for quite a while and it still ain't perfect. I can never connect at 9600
- from my house to my office. I can drop back to 4800 still using v.42bis
- compression and it connects every time. It seems that 9600 is still
- pushing the phone system right to the edge, and I have had mixed results
- in connecting at 9600. Long distance seems better, strange as it seems.

- In any case, a test drive is mandatory if you want results. regardless
- of my experiences or those of others. it seems that every phone system
- is different, and you simply must try to connect from the points you will
- really be using, not from a store to your office for example....
