- Good question. And the answer is - it all depends....
-
- Terms like Network/LAN Manager/Administrator could refer to a person, a file
- server system, or a management tool.
-
- What is a LAN ? To some it is an ethernet or token ring etc, with statiosn
- connected. To others, it is the above plus a file server system such as
- Novell.
-
- What is a Manager ? Is it the person who manages, or a tool which makes
- things more managable, or a tool used in the process of management.
- Unfortunately, there isn't much standardisation on terminology here. eg
-
- LAN Manager is a product
- I am a network manager (at a hands off distance, because I have a management
- section)
-
- So far I've been a great help, haven't I ;-)
-
- My advice is : Don't be too concerned about the terminology, just look at
- product offerings, if they make promises, investigate them and see if they are
- going to help you in your job. Lotsa luck !!
