  13.    Howdy,

  15.     I have been using ORACLE using only one account (the oracle
  16.     account used for installing) till now.Now when trying to
  17.     assign users using the ops$user_name, I am getting the
  18.     following error (on doing sqlplus from the ops user's account)..
  19.   
  20.   Enter user-name:
  21.   ERROR: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
  22.   ORA-07318: smsget: open error when opening sgadef.dbf file.
  23.   SunOS Error: 13: Permission denied
  24.  
  25.   The database has been opened in shared mode and the shared
  26.   memory segment has  "rw" permissions only for oracle.
  27.   Also I've set the env. variables ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID and other
  28.   variables 
  29.   appropriately.
