- True. Besides those things Dan mentions, based on our 25+ years in the
- OLTP market, NCR has found that a couple of key features needed for large,
- OLTP enterprises are robust administrative capabilities (both system
- definition and runtime administration) and robust security services
- (authentication, authorization, and message security).

- Although UNIX OLTP is becoming more and more popular, one thing which
- TP Monitor vendors have to face is their ability to support existing "legacy"
- systems. Customers have lots of $$$ invested in these systems (like a
- large 3278 network) and are not going to just throw them out. TOP END,
- for example, offers support for 3270 networks like yours, Simon. They
- can act as clients in a TOP END system, and make use of TOP END's screen
- definition utilities.
-
- There are also other answers for other "legacy" type systems. As Dan
- mentioned, the different UNIX TP Monitor products go their own way in
- addressing these issues.
