  12. I just heard (and I'm on the process of finding out some more) about a
  13. company called LEAD Technologies, Inc. (8701 Mallard Creek Road
  14. Charlotte, NC  28262 1-800-637-4699 in NC 704-549-5532 Fax 704-548-8161)

  16. They seem to have some code (including programmers .LIBs for PC's and
  17. Windows DLL, as far as I know) to compress several types of images (they
  18. all get converted to "true color"/gray scale, I believe) with better
  19. ratio quality/size than JPEG.  They offer a hardware assisted option
  20. powered by the C-Cube chip.  They announce their method as being
  21. different from and better than JPEG.  Their software also deal with JPEG
  22. code (JFIF), BTW, as they wanted to address the compatibility issue too.
