- CAMPAIGN '92 CANDIDATE INFORMATION NOW AVAILABLE
-
- Complete sets of position papers, speeches, official state-
- ments, fact sheets, etc. for both President Bush and Governor
- Clinton are now available for ftp.
-
- To access, simply do an anonymous ftp to: nptn.org
- (192.55.234.52). (Type: ftp nptn.org, login as: anonymous, give
- your e.mail address as your password and you are into the site.)
-
- Once you are in, go into the /pub/campaign.92 subdirectory
- (type: cd /pub/campaign.92), type: ls to list the files, and
- download away (type: ascii, then type: get <name of file>). We
- strongly suggest the first file(s) you download are INDEX.BUSH
- and/or INDEX.CLINTON. It's about the only way of knowing what's
- where. When you are finished, type: bye to logoff.
-
- All files are official campaign documents, provided by the
- National Public Telecomputing Network (NPTN) in cooperation with
- the Bush/Quayle and Clinton/Gore campaign committees. At the
- moment we are only able to provide Republican and Democratic
- information. (We are still waiting for a reply from the
- Libertarians. tap... tap... tap...)
-
- Over the coming weeks we will begin the process of uploading
- full-text of the appropriate documents to this newsgroup for those
- who do not have ftp capability. Both the ftp site and the
- newsgroup files will be updated each day as new material comes in.
-
-
- AND NOW A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR: This ftp site is brought to
- you by the National Public Telecomputing Network (NPTN) as part of
- its "Campaign '92" program.
-
- NPTN is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing free,
- public access, computerized communications and information systems
- in cities throughout the U.S. and abroad. (Think of something
- like National Public Radio or PBS on television, then substitute
- community computers for radio and T.V. stations, and you have the
- gist of what we're trying to do. To see one of our community
- computers in action, you might want to try, for example, the
- Cleveland Free-Net (telnet: freenet-in-a.cwru.edu, freenet-in-b.cwru.edu,
- freenet-in-c.cwru.edu--then ask yourself why there isn't something
- like this at YOUR location.)
-
- For further details we recommend you download the file:
- ABOUT.NPTN.TXT or shift over to our organizational ftp area by
- typing: cd /pub/info.nptn
