-
- I have just pushed a new revision of the pcnfsd v2 sources to
- the archive sites:
-
- src.doc.ic.ac.uk
- ftpserver.massey.ac.nz
- bcm.tmc.edu
-
- The new file is pcnfsd.92.08.21.tar.Z.
-
- The main changes from the last rev (dated April 27, 1992) are aimed at
- making it much easier to port to different systems with different
- printer architectures. Please read the file "common.h" for details,
- in conjunction with "pcnfsd_print.c". I have also added support
- for SVR4-style password aging. As a side-effect of this, I have
- begun to use the "comment" field in the reply to certain RPC's.
- I don't know of any client which will make use of this immediately,
- but client implementors should begin to think about doing so.
- [In essence, if the ".cm" field is non-null and does *not* contain
- the string "No comment", you should probably display the text in some
- form.] There are other minor fixes throughout.
-
- This version should be regarded as "work in progress" at this stage.
- Several vendors are working with interim versions of this source
- base in developing ports for popular platforms, and I hope to be able
- to post another release sometime between now and InterOp which will
- include their modifications. As always, feedback, bugreports (preferably
- with fixes!) and enhancements are always welcomed.
-
- Geoff
-
- PS I will post the sources if absolutely necessary, but I'd prefer
- not to chew up bandwidth.
