- Dear Stat-L,
-
- Concerning the ethics of posting question and answering questions in
- electronic bulletin board, Meredith gave me the following comment. I
- agree, and would like to share the advice with you.
-
- The following is the message I received:
-
- I hope you get help for your question. In general, most of us on the list
- find that we can give better answers if we know what field the question is
- in. A better way to have phrased it might have been to state the actual
- problem, then give the balls analogy, and let us know what your level of math
- background is. That would allow people to give you the most helpful
- responses.
-
- Good luck - Meredith Warshaw
-
- So, if the question is relevant to this Stat-L board, let the question be
- here. Let us accept that different people have different standard and
- different philosophy. Let the people who would like to answer the question
- answer the question, up the the depth they feel comfortable. Those who do
- not want to take part, feel free to go aside.
-
- Leave Stat-L for statistics, the Philo board for philosophy.
