- The Washington DC SAS Users Group will hold it's third quarter general
- meeting on Tuesday, September 15 in the main auditorium of the U.S.
- Department of Commerce at 14th and Constitution from 1 to 4 pm.
-
- Speakers:
-
- Paul Kent, ............................... A Taste of SQL
- SAS Institute
-
- Michael Raithel, ......................... Sources of SAS System
- Compute Associates Information under MVS
-
-
- Judging from the discussion among SAS users on SAS-L as well the local
- community, PROC SQL is one of the hottest topics around. we've seen it
- posed as a powerful and elegant alternative to data step and procedure
- processing. Paul Kent is probably the Institute's foremost authority on
- PROC SQL, so we're looking forward to a very informative presentation.
- This'll be a great chance to get an introduction to PROC SQL, and to
- field your questions with *the* expert.
-
- There is a lot of information that SAS generates as it executes.
- Sometimes the printed output most of us expect really doesn't tell us
- what we need to know. Some of us have learned to look at their SAS job
- logs, but how many of us use PROC CONTENTS, or can glean information
- from the MVS job log? Michael Raithel's presentation should be
- beneficial for everyone, particularly those working in an MVS
- environment.
-
- We will also show the latest SAS News Video, which has highlights from
- SUGI 17 in Hawaii.
-
- As always, our meetings are open to all interested persons, and
- admission is free. We have made arrangements for interpreters for the
- hearing impaired to be on hand. Please contact me if you have any
- special needs.
-
- DIRECTIONS TO THE MEETING: Parking is virtually nonexistent, so we
- recommend you take the Metro. Take the BLUE/ORANGE line to the Federal
- Triangle station, walk down 12th Street to Constitution Avenue (toward
- the Mall), turn right on Constitution and walk one block west to 14th
- Street. Cross 14th and turn right, walk a half a block to the main
- entrance of the US Department of Commerce. Show a government ID or sign
- in, and follow signs to the auditorium.
