- We are preparing for a conversion from VM/SP 5.0 to VM/XA SP 2.1.
- Before the final cutover, we are planning to provide a
- "production test" period during which VM users may log on to
- VM/XA and try it out. It would obviously be a Good Thing if they
- would be able to link to and access their VM/SP minidisks from
- VM/XA. All of our VM DASD is shared between VM/SP and VM/XA, but
- of course we don't want our users to be getting write links to
- their disks on both systems. I'm aware of a product (IBM's
- VM/ISF) that manages inter-system links in such a way that, given
- two VM systems, that if a user on System #1 has a write link to a
- minidisk, the best link that a user on System #1 *or* System #2
- could get would be a read link (unless, of course, they ask for a
- MW link). Unfortunately, VM/ISF appears to be a VM/HPO-only
- product. Is there any other way to accomplish what we would like
- to do? Any third-party products? Any workarounds? Making our
- users FORMAT new minidisks and SENDFILE their files over hardly
- seems like a very friendly test. By the way, VM/SP and VM/XA
- will run in different domains; VM/SP will *not* be run
- second-level under VM/XA.
-
- Thanks!
