- Our SIS is written in-house. Student Financial Aid is the exception,
- being a purchased package called SAFE (recently acquired by ACT).
- Both run in CICS within VSE/ESA, which we happen to run as a guest
- under VM/ESA. Another guest machine is MUSIC, which among other
- things handles all e-mail. Our system currently handles about 150
- terminals, and the files track 5,500 current students plus retaining
- 5 years of history online. We outgrew our 43xx box, and have seen
- major improvements with our 9221-150, which we hope to upgrade to a
- model 170. The announcement of VSE/ESA 1.3 with 31-bit addressing is
- going to be a major help in alleviating potential CICS constraint
- which is not a problem right now, but is not far from it considering
- the growth of our systems and additional users.
