- I have not been overly satisfied with all the different typing tutor programs
- out there. I am not sure they are that helpful in teaching typing skills.
- I am experimenting with a class of students this fall with a new method
- called the Almena method of teaching. There is a cost per student or cost
- per board/school. After the first hour you know where all the keys are and
- after the next 10 hours you can do 20wpm. They have all sorts of testamonies
- from teachers at all levels. Once you sign up you have to go away for a one
- day training session and then are sworn to secrecy about their method. I think
- it has merit. I am trying it. The one advantage a high school teacher told me
- was that students are able to type complete sentences after the first hour not
- just the "dfdf jkjk..." of the past.
