- The issue of frequent and occasionally shallow e-mail surveys and
- questionnaires can be a CWIS issue; more and more of us (administrators)
- are making the machinery available to greater numbers of people so that
- they can be information providers and users. It will not take these same
- people long to find out about the host of "lists" to which they will be
- tempted to send a questionnaire or survey.
- I know that my suggestion will offend some who will regard it as a
- violation of free speech or civil liberty, but I would argue that since
- the name of my institution goes with the survey, I should have the right
- to approve it. Similarly, when I receive a survey that is going to take
- time (money) to respond to, I am more likely to if the sender advises
- me that the questionnaire has received the approval of the "director", or
- manager in charge of the unit (library, computer centre, etc.) and that the
- surveyor will send me the results, if I ask for them.
- If someone has alredy suggested this, I'm sorry, I missed it.
