  22. Personally, I think its a good idea, especially considering the above.
  23. I like to hang out on the asian channels because I have an interest in
  24. asian culture, language and people.  But I'll be damned if I can
  25. figure out who's a man and who's a woman!  It's not just about sex,
  26. but it *is* about knowing what kind of person you're talking to.  If I
  27. talk to someone over the phone, I can usually tell their gender and
  28. ditto goes for RL conversations with people face-to-face.  I don't see
  29. any reason not to advertise one's gender on IRC if one is comfortable
  30. with it.  I don't think people would object to the idea of a picture
  31. for each nick (assuming that the bandwidth, etc., were there to
  32. support it), which would certainly give away not only gender but some
  33. rendition of physical appearance.
