- Sorry to shatter your generalisations about irc'ers, but here goes ..
-
- Many of us (in Australia, I cannot speak for the rest of the world)
- do actually meet eachother. We go for lunches every few weeks,
- indeed, I personally have made about 8 new friends directly through
- irc. These people are what I consider good friends, and irc has been
- the sole reason I met them. We use irc to keep in touch, and to help
- eachother. I doubt that I will "grow out of it", just as I will
- not grow out of writing people letters (snail mail) or using the
- phone. Irc is for me, and many friends of mine, a damn good way to
- keep in touch. It is not a haven for socially inept reclusives (well,
- exept for Avalon!! (sorry mate, I had too :) )). We use it as you would
- use a telephone, exept that you can't do a smiley on the phone, and
- std rates to Sydney and Perth are rather prohibitive!!
-
- I assure you, that *my* feet are firmly planted in reality, are yours ???
-
- cheers
