  13. At the risk of being called a 'bleeding heart' or of getting
  14. profusely flamed for the forthcoming opinions, I'll state them
  15. anyway...

  18. Let's keep it that way.
  19. If you're having a bad night, don't come on and annoy people.
  20. Don't sign on just to be obnoxious.
  21. People with filthy, scummy names - stay off.

  26. I just wanted to relate an incedent where I was subjected
  27. to a continual kick some weeks ago.
  28. O pride myself on being a fairly decent individual, and
  29. try and keep the decorum of IRC on public channels, but
  30. I was continually kicked some weeks ago on a public
  31. channel for basically minding my own business.  Sure I own
  32. a bot.  But my bot doesn't have 100 names in it's auto-op
  33. list, doesn't scroll ops annoyingly, and doesn't respond
  34. unless directly spoken to publically or privately.
  35. Ok?
  36. Later that same night where I was continually kicked off
  37. of a public channel on IRC, I finally made it onto the
  38. channel (btw, I was banned after a while as well), I
  39. asked people why this particular individual kicked me,
  40. then banned me.  Some stand up person said, "...oh, so
  41. and so was having a bad night was all..."
  42. Now...
  43. I understand that.  I also understand that *I* call     
  44. from my own home more than I do from campus, so *MY*
  45. phone bill reflects my irc useage.  And when things
  46. get slow I will talk publically to my bot, and there
  47. have been nothing but nice comments about the bot.
  48. But now, I see that, "so and so" has created one as
  49. well, and signs him onto IRC and leaves him there.
  50. it wouldn't be so bad, but "so and so" creates a bot
  51. for on-line help???  This shows such a lack of con-
  52. sistency of behavior on this person's part that it is
  53. ridiculous!  Especially after the bona-fide personal
  54. attack on me a few weeks prior.
  55. Ok...
  56. Fine...
  57. But now, his nick is so close to mine,
  58. and his bot's nick is so close to mine,
  59. that people might get them confused.
  60. All this is granted....
  61. Alls I want is an apology for the attack.
  62. Granted - I watchdog the public channels I am on.
  63. And do subscribe to kicking annoying, boisterous,
  64. and vulgar people when the need calls, but I think
  65. "so and so" was playing with me and decided to
  66. just use me as his rag-doll or pillow and abuse me
  67. on that particular night.  D*mn unfair if you ask me!
  68. If this sounds whiny or complainy, oh well....
  69. Please don't waste bandwidth replying with: 'poor
  70. baby,' and stuff like that because it'll be a waste.
  71. I just wanted to voice my opinion on this incedent,
  72. and tell the world, that even when you mind your
  73. own business, try and treat people right, try and
  74. set the table for some fun on irc (and I'm not talking
  75. about loud, boisterous, annoying fun), you can still
  76. fall prey to jerks who can't make up their mind as
  77. to how they will behave towards others on IRC.
  78. Will they be nice, friendly, etc.? or will they lack
  79. a consistent pattern of behavior.  Do I have to          
  80. out out from now on thinking: "uh-oh <whoever> is
  81. in a bad mood - I'll give him or her a wide berth
  82. tonight...it's for the best."
  83. Best not even *try* and make friends then on IRC.
  84. I always try to positive, and in an 'up' mood
  85. when on, so.....
  86. what can I say?
  87. sorry - maybe this was a waste of bandwidth too.  :(
  88. had to get it offa my chest.
