  35. I agree with this.  Just why are so many people preoccupied with what 
  36. sex a user is?  I just can't stand people who ask me if I am male or
  37. female as their first message to me.  Does it really matter?  I mean
  38. if a person is on IRC to meet new people and make new friends, does 
  39. gender really make that big a difference?  Sometimes when I do ask, I
  40. just reply, Does it matter?  And if they say yes, well then, so much 
  41. for that conversation.

  47. I wholeheartedly agree with this also.  I detest the idea of some luser
  48. asking me if I want to have net.sex or something stoopit like that.  And,
  49. frankly, I just don't want to be bothered with it.  And, how many of us
  50. want to see IRC turn into something that isnt anything more than another
  51. singles' bar?  I mean I know that there are some really decent channels 
  52. where people can get together and chat about things with some civility
  53. and respect.  Introduction of a gender setting will only bring on a decline
  54. of such respect.
