  19. I did something boneheaded to my mail account yesterday, and missed Ned's
  20. first response to my remark about the multipart nondelivery notices.  From
  21. the ensuing discussion I gather it was somewhat heated.  I think that most
  22. of us who post suggestions here consider the following points to be implicit
  23. in what we write, but perhaps I should have been explicit:

  25.     1.  It's well known that an apparently trivial modification may
  26.         in fact be very difficult to implement (and sometimes vice
  27.         versa).  Clearly, an option to control the notice format falls
  28.         into this class, and having found that out I wouldn't dream
  29.         of pressing the issue any further.

  31.     2.  I don't know anyone familiar with Innosoft who considers them
  32.         anything less than a model for all other software concerns.
  33.         By pointing out a fly in the ointment--a microbe, really--I
  34.         didn't mean to express a lack of enthusiasm for the MIME
  35.         implementation, with which Innosoft is doing almost singlehandedly
  36.         what the entire X.400 community has been struggling to pull
  37.         off for eight years.

  39. So please add these as footnotes to my original comment, which still seems
  40. perfectly reasonable to me.  Now, can someone send me a copy of that
  41. message?  I hate to miss an instance of Ned's writing, even if it means
  42. getting a whole can of whup-ass poured on me.
