  11. my little brother richie is -- how shall i put this -- slightly
  12. undereducated.  in addition, i have found him to be quite vulnerable
  13. to suggestion.  yes, you're quite right: it *is* a perfect recipe for
  14. fun.

  16. it has been very hot, dry, and windy in salt lake city lately.  i have
  17. been sneezing and coughing like everyone else in the valley, but when
  18. richie complained to me of itchy eyes, i told him of the horrors of
  19. conjunctivitis.  smelly green pus leaking from between crusted
  20. eyelids.  maddening, painful itching.  malaise, fever, delirium.
  21. eventually you welcome death with open arms.

  23. last night he told me about a nightmare he had in which his eye
  24. itched, and when he scratched it, it began to crumble.  the more he
  25. tried to stuff the bits back in, the more his eyeball crumbled and
  26. fell out.  he woke up in a cold sweat.

  28. about five months ago, i sent him to his doctor, scared to death that
  29. he had hiv.  i didn't tell him that the monster mountain bike ride i
  30. had taken him on earlier that week had left me weak and sore for days,
  31. too.

  33. you may think i am cruel, but i have a generous side too.  so, in the
  34. spirit sharing, i will take a few requests.  what shall it be next?
  35. schistosomiasis?  a rare hemoglobinopathy?  or perhaps a nice,
  36. inoperable brain tumor?
