  26. Mr. Miller it would appear you know nothing about pregnancy.
  27. Every pregnancy will cause some physical damage. You can not
  28. compress organs for several months without causing some
  29. change.  You can not undergo massive hormonal changes without
  30. causing some metabolic transformation.  You can not force a
  31. fetus weighing 6lbs and up, through the vaginal opening
  32. without causing tearing and subsequent scaring.  Then of course
  33. there is physical damage caused by c-sections.  You are aware
  34. that the US has the highest rate of surgical births in the
  35. world, aren't you?

  37. Ninety percent of women will suffer post partnum depression
  38. within the first 10 days of giving birth.  Ten percent of
  39. these will require hospitalization and/or medication.

  41. The financial costs of pregnancy are well documented,
  42. even in countries that have health care.  There is the
  43. loss of wages due to time off, the additional costs of
  44. medicine and nutritional supplements to name a few.
  45. Statistics on single mothers show a higher percentage
  46. living on welfare or at poverty levels when they left
  47. school young to start families, than single mothers living
  48. above poverty.

  53. of pregnancy and child birth in this newsgroup display
  54. a contemptuous attitude toward women.  I don't care what
  55. your views on abortion are, but your dismissal of the very
  56. real physical and mental stresses that a woman undergoes
  57. while carrying a fetus to term is either due to ignorance
  58. or misogyny.  Both can be rectified.
