  15. I am preparing to order 3D modeling software for our studio library.
  16. This is stuff that will be used to generate 3D models for later
  17. expression in a virtual environment.

  19. So far the options I know about include packages from Dimension,
  20. Straylight, Sense8, VPL, Alias, Wavefront, and a couple homebrew
  21. systems.  There may be others also worthy of investigation.

  23. Has anyone benchmarked these or read of an article that reported on
  24. them?  I know standards are arbitrary at this stage, quite subjec-
  25. tive based on the modeler's style, but any information would be useful
  26. given the need to constrain purchases on one ground or another.

  28. Although I'd prefer knowledge obtained through some sort of third-
  29. party testing, I would welcome manufacturer's performance specs and
  30. comparisons, too.
