- To the best of my knowledge, the flag on the Orbiter
- fuselage is painted to appear as though blown out straight
- by the passage of the vehicle through the air. I believe
- it may have had its origins in the practices of the
- Navies of yore, but I don't know what the Army/Air Force
- did to this custom.
