  11. In all this recent discussion (euphemism) on nuclear cluster models and
  12. a recent 'Press Release', why has no one mentioned Linus Pauling's
  13. nuclear cluster model?  He even has a publication out in the most recent
  14. issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (which no
  15. physicist I've spoken to ever even looks at) on an explanation of
  16. spectra of superdeformed nuclei using his cluster model.  There are
  17. references to other alleged successes of his model in the paper.
