  12. The concept of entropy seems to have two geneses:

  14. From the Carnot cycle via the concept of temperature
  15.  
  16. or
  17.  
  18. From the notion of the maximum in the number of possible states ie
  19. statistics.
  20.  
  21. But I don't recall any text's showing that these are equivalent
  22. derivations.  Can someone give me a reference or two????
