- My 2c worth:
- Abramowitz & Stegun for properties of functions and numerical tables
- Jahnke & Emde (Dover Books) for pictures of how functions behave in the
- complex plane (this is the one area where A&S did not supersede J&E)
- BUT neither of the above gives proofs. You may need these (e.g. if suspecting
- a typo in some book); if so:
- Whittaker & Watson
- FWJ Olver "Intro. To Asymptotics and Special Functions" (Academic Press 1974)
- YL Luke "The special functions and their approximations"(Academic Press 1969)
- If you want a property of functions that's not in the above the refs in A&S
- for particular functions are good.
