  22.    BMUG Math SIG Meeting at 7 pm on Monday, September 21, 1992

  24. Maple and Mathematica are the two most popular computer algebra
  25. systems on the market today.  Nancy Blachman will share with you
  26. her experience and her opinions on the strengths and limitations 
  27. of Maple and Mathematica. She will answer questions such as:  
  28. How is Maple similar to Mathematica?  In what ways are the 
  29. different? What does Maple offer and who are the primary users 
  30. of Maple? What can Mathematica do and who is using it?  How 
  31. should you decide which system to use/purchase?
  32.  
  33. Nancy Blachman has been using Mathematica for the past four years.
  34. She is the author of the "Mathematica Quick Reference, Version 2"
  35. (Addison-Wesley and Variable Symbols, 1992) and the tutorial book 
  36. "Mathematica:  A Practical Approach" (Prentice-Hall, 1992).  Recently
  37. she started to use Maple.  She is writing the "Maple V Quick Reference",
  38. a compact guide to Maple V, Release 2.

  40. This presentation will be at the BMUG office at 2055 Center Street
  41. in Berkeley.  The office is near the north west corner of Center Street
  42. and Shattuck Ave. which is half a block from the Berkeley BART station.

  44. Driving directions:
  45.         Take the University exit off 80.
  46.         Head east on University toward the UC Berkeley campus.
  47.         Turn right at Shattuck (McDonalds will be at the corner.)
  48.         Go 2 blocks.
  49.         Turn right on Center and look for parking.
  50.         I recommend the parking garage on the left, as the one on
  51.                 the right closes at 8 pm.
