- I use the ASAP TF555 switch (roughly $120) to feed voice telephones,
- an answering machine, and two Unix nodes all off the single relatively
- expensive foreign exchange phone line I have between Scotts Valley and
- San Jose. My UUCP partners just have to add a few digits and commas
- after the phone number in their dialing scripts. It works great and
- saves me a fortune.
-
- The only caveat. When the DTMF gets faster than 60 ms., the ASAP
- starts dropping digits. To counter this with my speedy UUCP partners,I
- just make sure they add more digits = 555-1234,,888,888,888. At 70 ms.,
- the switching would be reliable with simply 555-1234,,88,88, for
- example.
