- My experiences with two Seagate drives...
-
- ST-238 - Ran about 5 years, started developing Data Errors, many bad sectors,
- etc. I guess this is about what I'd expect from this generation drive
-
- ST-277 - In 2 years has crashed a _minimum_ of 5 times, including once 2 weeks
- ago, and again this week. Usually a hard sector error develops in the
- FAT, so it really fouls up everything.
-
- I don't know if this performance is typical, but I'm not taking any more
- chances with Seagate drives. I have a Maxtor drive on back-order, they're
- supposedly very good - 150,000hr MTBF, and the folks at Hard Drives Internat'l
- said they were a very reliable drive (also the least expensive)
