- I am finally getting serious about building a multi-track direct-to-disk
- recording system. Which is to say I finally have the money.
-
- When I looked into this about two years ago, the hottest thing seemd to be
- the delta-sigma stereo converters offered by Crystal Semiconductor. For
- $200 you could get a board which took stereo in and dropped 16 bit wide
- samples off the back. The delta-sigma technique made input anti-alias
- filtering trivial. The chip itself was $100.
-
- In the meantime I am sure better things have been introduced, most likely
- by other companies. I haven't kept up with the trade publications like I used
- to so am not aware of what has been going on.
-
- I am interested in CD quality, 18 bit studio quality, and DAT or variable
- rate ADC's and DAC's. Evaluation units (like the Crystal board) would be
- nice but not strictly necessary. Serial or parallel output is fine.
-
- If you know of any companies offering hot ADC or DAC products, zip
- me a telephone number, maybe a part number, won't you? I'll
- definitely summarize and post.
-
- Thank you.
