- GPS systems have been available for private aviation and marine
- uses for a number of years. There are some systems for use
- in land vehicles coming on the market now. (I just saw an announcement
- for a Sony system for a bit over $1000.) And there are reports of
- versions small enough to be carried hiking that will be out in a
- year or two.
