  12. In desperation, I took apart the LCD screen unit.  My efforts were
  13. rewarded:  the screen is manufactured by Sharp Electronics!  The part
  14. number is definitely "LM64"; this number is printed on one of the PC
  15. boards inside the screen.

  17. The company name "Fujikura," the only name visible before I took the
  18. unit apart, was printed on the thin ribbon cable that connected the
  19. LCD to the Mac.  A friend of mine looked up the name in an "Electronic
  20. Industry Telephone Directory" and found "Fujikura America" as an
  21. importer.  So maybe they import the screen for Sharp?  I hope not,
  22. because if so, I may be out of luck.

  24. Now, I am anxiously awaiting a call-back from my local Sharp
  25. representative.
