- Just as an aside, the redshift 2.286 IRAS galaxy 10214+4724 has been detected
- in several CO lines. The ratios of these can, in pronciple, be used to
- determine the local CBR temperature (would be about 9 K) but are so dependent
- on other proerties of the object (density, radiation field etc etc) that it
- can't be done until we understand this remarkable galaxy much better. See a
- paper by Solomon et al 'Warm Molecular Gas in the Primeval Galaxy 10214+4724'
- soon to be published in Ap. J letters. Take the comment about it being a
- primeval galaxy with a pinch of salt BTW.
