- The thread on electronic deterrence of driveaway theft in the last 2 days
- has both appealing ideas and an awareness of some associated difficulties
- (cost of coded keys, inconvenience when keys are lost, reliability). In
- addition, the US gov't insists that you turn a key, not just use a card or
- a code. GM's working on a neat idea to make our PASS-KEY even more effective
- while making key replacement cheaper. It is so darned clever, I wish I could
- tell you about it. By the way, the original poster speculated that car makers
- don't even care about theft. I know of at least one that does. You'd be
- surprised.
