- I'm soon to be in the market for a new cassette deck. I hope to primarily
- use it for mastering demo tapes in my home studio, but don't want to spend too
- much. A friend of mine got a really great deal on an Aiwa tape deck about
- a year ago at an electronics convention... the ADWX-999. As I recall, from my
- brief look at it, it had just about everything (dual record, quick reverse,
- muting, etc...) with good specs. However, Aiwa didn't have as much success
- with it so they discontinued them. Any suggestions as to mail-order houses
- that might have them in stock?
-
- Or...
-
- A couple of other recommendations were also made...
-
- One of these recommendations, by model, was the Pioneer CTW-850. It sounded
- good, but I haven't seen one, and I hate to buy without seeing or having a
- reinforced suggestion.
-
- Another suggestion was that I buy a single 3-head deck. I don't dub a lot,
- but it would come in handy for making multiple copies from one master. The
- question is...is there enough of a difference in sound quality between the more
- expensive double cassette decks and single cassette decks. I have only recorded
- with dual cassette decks in the past and have not ben exactly displeased with
- their sound, but for demo tapes, maybe better quality is needed.
-
- If someone can recommend a better deck than those I've mentioned (IYHO) for
- about the $300 range (or if anybody has an AIWA ADWX-999 for sale) please let
- me know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated in saving me from wasting my
- money!
-
- Sincerely,
-
