- Do you want to know the backgwond, qualifications and experience of
- those who applying to you for the jobs of senatore, representative and
- even president of the U.S.? Do you want to know who is funding their
- campaigns, and where they stand on the issues?

- the country get answers to these questions?

- The largest voter-education effort ever attempted is now
- located in Corvallis, right on the OSU campus. Project Vote Smart
- now offers every citizen instant, free access to factual information
- on candidates for federal office in the 1992 elections.
- By calling one toll-free number: 786-6885, you and other americans can
- get the facts. Dial 1-800 prefeix for answers from operators to your
- specific questions; dial 1-900 prefix for a sample of printed
- information on incumbents, in the "Voter's Self-Defense Manual"
- ($3.50 chage for phone call, printing and postage). The local Hotline
- number for Corvallis, Philomath and Albany callers is 737-4444.

- Project Vote Smart is seeking volunteers from the community to
- serve as operators on the Hotline, as well as to help with other
- projects. if you ahve some time besteen now and Nov. 3rd to devote to
- an exciting adventure, please call 737-3760 (ask for bruce).
- Training Sessions are held weekly.

- Project Vote Smart is a program of the Center for National
- Independence in Politics, a non-partisan, non-profit group organized
- in 1988 to help citizens defend themselves against manipulative
- campaign tactics. Founding board members include former presidents
- Carter and Ford; former senators Barry Goldwater and George McGovern;
- And Peggy Lampl, former director of the League of Women Voters.
