- >I would suggest having a look at "Style" by Frank Lucas.
-
- Which reminds me: not to put down Jim's recommendation -- I've never seen
- Lucas's book -- but the best style book *I've* ever seen is Joe Williams's
- book, also called _Style_.
-
- Williams is in charge of the course at the University of Chicago known
- formally as "Academic and Professional Writing", but universally as the
- "Little Red Schoolhouse." If you can't take the course, read the book.
- Its emphasis is not on fiction writing, but it'll help make your writing
- clearer, no matter how good you were when you began.
-
- I just checked our library catalogue for citations, and I honestly don't
- know which of these two I own. I suppose the 1990 book may be a condensed/
- updated version of the '85 second edition, with a new publisher and subtitle.
