  26.   I also received a packet from NWU at the suggestion of a friend.  Since 
  27. it is a union, affiliated with the UAW, I question if this might not be 
  28. waving a red flag at prospective editors/publishers.  I as much as anyone 
  29. would like to see advances and royalties fall within equitable boundaries (
  30. i.e. provide the writer with an above-poverty-level lifestyle), and I'd 
  31. also like the benefit of insurance coverage when I quit my "real" job <VBG>,
  32.  but this scares me.
  33.   I enjoy my membership in RWA and find the benefits more than 
  34. offset the annual dues ($45.)  Their magazine is quite good, and 
  35. improving with each issue.
