- (Adelaide to Melbourne, 1992)
-
- 1. The "Break the blockade - Cycle for Cuba" (Adelaide
- to Melbourne, 1992) bicycle ride (hereafter referred to
- as the ride), has been primarily organized to assist in
- providing essential humanitarian aid to the people of
- Cuba, essentials which are currently denied to the Cuban
- people by the existence of the illegal economic and
- trade blockade conducted by the United States of
- America.
-
- 2. The ride is independently organized by its Organizing
- Committee in liaison with the "Cuba Solidarity Campaign
- SA".
-
- 3. Official participation in the ride is open to any
- individuals or organizations who support the aims and
- principles of this charter, accept its "Participants'
- Statement of Rights and Duties" and are prepared to sign
- the ride's "Entry Form" which incorporates a "Release of
- Responsibility Declaration".
-
- 4. All participants are free, if they so desire, to
- express any personal views and opinions. However, ones'
- participation in the ride, in whatever capacity, is not
- by itself an expression in favour or against any
- government or political system in Australia or abroad.
-
- 5. The primary aim of the ride is as outlined in article
- 1. of this charter. However, further aims of the ride
- are as follows:
- a) To promote cycling as an effective means of
- transportation and recreation, as a means of
- elevating physical and mental health and as a
- viable fund raising activity. The ride is not
- to be regarded as a cycling competition.
- b) To promote the spirit of cycling in peace
- and friendship amongst its participants and
- towards the community in general.
