  42. I'm going to call the Washington Post, and hope to fax them also, to say
  43.  In a country full of guns, with not enough food, there will of course
  44. be looting.
  45.   To withhold food on the grounds that there is looting is a recipe for
  46. genocide with a built-in excuse.  But the excuse will not hold up.
  47.   I respectfully urge our State Department to act immediately on the
  48. recommendations of many relief workers:  FLOOD THE COUNTRY WITH FOOD.

  50. DEATH OF A WHOLE GENERATION.

  53. the attacks on humanitarian aid convoys."

  55.    Please remember that 500 airlifts a week are going into Yugoslavia,
  56. and the UN envoy to Somalia, Mohamed Sahnoun, has declared Somalia
  57. to be safer than Yugoslavia.  We do not begrudge Yugoslavians any of their
  58. food.  But a similar resolve must be found to get food to Somalia.
