  17.      The People's Progressive Convention will begin Friday 
  18. afternoon, August 21st, and end Sunday afternoon, August 23rd. 
  19. Convention proceedings will be held on the campus of Eastern 
  20. Michigan University in Ypsilanti. Ypsilanti is just outside of 
  21. Detroit; for those who will be flying, it is only a 15 minute ride 
  22. from the Detroit airport. 
  23.  
  24.       A committee in Michigan has been working to arrange descent, 
  25. low-cost housing in local motels/hotels, as well as for some free 
  26. housing. They are also arranging for local transportation, food and 
  27. other necessary logistics. 
  28.  
  29.      The schedule for the Convention has begun to be developed by 
  30. a National Planning Committee initiated by Project New Tomorrow and 
  31. composed of a growing number of organizations. The final schedule 
  32. and other logistical information will be sent out later to all 
  33. those who pre-register. 
  34.  
  35.     We encourage you to pre-register! This will help us to better 
  36. prepare, and it will help us meet the up-front expenses of 
  37. organizing an event of this kind. 
  38.  
  39.     For most people pre-registration is $20.00. For people on fixed 
  40. income, the unemployed or students there is a $10.00 pre- 
  41. registration fee.
