  15. I am trying to get gnu installed under (ugh) VAX VMS so that some
  16. students of mine can use it.  I can't get the "help for key" command
  17. to work.  The problem is that that command wants to open file
  18. doc-18.57.14  Unfortunately, VMS renames this file to DOC-18.57;14,
  19. turning the 14 into its own kind of version number, which emacs
  20. does not understand.  Even more unfortunately, the person who is
  21. installing emacs is not even a user, let alone someone to go
  22. grovelling over the file-manipulation stuff.

  24. Can anybody offer any suggestions about this?  patches?  I would be
  25. eternally grateful, as would my students, bless their pointy little
  26. heads.
