- I rarely take the toll road because I find tolls like that in general
- to be irksome, but even more so on my motorcycle. My question is
- whether the HOV lane, which is the far left lane that I am usually in
- when I am on the toll road, will be open to motorcyclists as specified
- in the federal highway funding bill which passed earlier this year.
- Northern VA is one of two states which continues a no-motorcyclist
- policy in (some) HOV lanes despite the federal mandate and the state's
- lack of required proof that bikers would be a hazard in the lanes.
- (Y'all are of course welcome to argue about how right the state is in
- that regard, but I won't be a part of it this time around.)
-
- Incidentally, I pretty much think that the toll plaza going up into
- Rt 7 from toll road east is a crock too. Then again, there is an
- anomalous free entry point from just a quarter of a mile west of it.
-
- It's sort of sad that the bullshit of the toll road encourages regular
- commuters like me to actually use the secondary roads.

-
- Do the latter, but not the former. Yelling at the person who would
- probably much rather be doing something else than collecting tolls
- from hostile commuters --- and who doubtless has no more power than
- you to change the system --- is just poor manners.
