  13.   Here is what we have:
  14.     A bunch of Sparc stations running SunOS 4.1, and X11R5 under xdm.
  15.  
  16.   Here is what I want:
  17.         I'd like to run X11R5 xdm on each station, with the default
  18.         server being the vanilla R5 X. The user can specify (either
  19.         by a file in her directory, or by hitting, say, F1 instead
  20.         of RET at login) that she wants to run OW3. THe X server
  21.         would be terminated and the xnews server started for that
  22.         session. On logout, xnews would terminate and the X server
  23.         would be restarted.

  25.   How I'd like to do it:
  26.     In Login and/or Setup, change the Xserver config file to use xnews.
  27.     Tell xdm to kill server.
  28.     Tell xdm to reread config file and start new server (HUP signal?)
  29.     At Logout, kill the xnews server (if it's running) and tell
  30.          xdm to restart X server, if necessary.
  31.     
  32.   Questions:
  33.     Will this work?
  34.     Is there a better way?
  35.         Is this inadvisable?
  36.     I have heard of a security leak running xnews from R5 xdm as root:
  37.         is this a problem?
  38.     How does the OW3 xnews server respond to signals?
